This 1st timer at the finish of the 2011 BuffaloMarathon had the support of her whole family for the entire way. Jenny Lipari decided to run the Buffalo Marathon as a way to celebrate her graduation at the University of Buffalo.
A graduating Senior and long time runner, Jenny has finally crossed the finish line in both her academic life as well as her running career. When we asked her if she was interested in doing another marathon, she immediately responded that she was onboard to taste the distance again and improve upon her time while enjoying the company of some of her family members that also love to run.
Jenny touched briefly on the daunting training schedule as it relates to the commitment required to reach her goal at the finish. When you combine that with the overwhelming workload of her school, it is no doubt she is ready to celebrate at the finish line in Buffalo. Off camera, she mentioned that late in the race she was able to draw upon her many training runs thru Delaware Park that made her familiar with her surroundings late in the race.
Finally the main thing that kept her going was the fact that she was raising money for a Charity that is near to her heart. Strength for Life, founded in memory of Evelyn Knapp, an exercise physiologist and co-founder of Personal Training Institute, is a non profit organization that provides free exercise classes and wellness weekend to cancer patients and survivors. Jenny was inspired to not only finish for herself but also for this wonderful cause that gives cancer patients the opportunity to participate in group exercise classes. She raised nearly $800 and continues to welcome any support available.
